NA approves investment policy for Gia Nghia-Chon Thanh expressway project

With 464 “yes” votes from the 469 attending deputies, the 15th National Assembly on June 28 passed a resolution on the investment policy for a project to build the North-South Expressway’s Gia Nghia-Chon Thanh western section, as part of its ongoing seventh session.

The section, spanning from Gia Nghia in the Central Highlands province of Dak Nong to Chon Thanh in the southern province of Binh Phuoc, has a total length of 128.8km and total investment of 25.54 trillion VND (over 1 billion USD).

The project is scheduled to be implemented from 2024 to 2026 and put into operation in 2027.

It aims to connect the Central Highlands and the southeastern regions, and link Binh Phuong, Dak Nong and other nearby localities with Ho Chi Minh City, creating a new development space and motivation for the two regions, and optimising the regions’ potential in land use, tourism, processing, and mining, thus contributing to completing their socio-economic and defence-security tasks./.
