Cambodian National Assembly President arrives in Hanoi, begins visit

President of the Cambodian National Assembly (NA) Samdech Moha Rathsapheathika Thipadei Khuon Sudary arrived in Hanoi on November 30 evening, beginning an official visit to Vietnam from November 30-December 2 at the invitation of National Assembly Chairman Vuong Dinh Hue.

The Cambodia NA leader was met at the airport by NA Vice Chairman Nguyen Duc Hai and Chairman of the NA’s Committee for External Relations Vu Hai Ha.

This is the first foreign trip by Samdech Khuon Sudary as President of the Cambodian NA right after the country held the elections of the 7th legislature and completed the national leadership in August this year.

The visit of the Cambodian NA President is an important event in the relations between the NAs of Vietnam and Cambodia. It is a new milestone contributing to strengthening and developing the good neighbourliness, traditional friendship, comprehensive cooperation and long-term sustainability between the two countries in general and the two NAs in particular./.
This is the first visit to Singapore by To Lam in his position as the General Secretary of the Communist Party of Vietnam (CPV) Central Committee, marking a new milestone in bilateral relations, and demonstrating Vietnam’s special attention to elevating relations with Singapore to new heights, in line with Vietnam’s foreign policy.
The National Assembly's ninth plenary session will last for about two months, during which legislators will approve 11 laws and discuss 16 bills as well as amend the Constitution and related laws.
Party General Secretary To Lam, his spouse Ngo Phuong Ly, and a high-ranking Vietnamese delegation left Jakarta on March 11, concluding their three-day state visit to Indonesia and official visit to the ASEAN Secretariat.
The host Speaker hailed the elevation of the Vietnam – Indonesia ties to a comprehensive strategic partnership, affirming that her country highly values and continually promotes the friendship and multifaceted cooperation with Vietnam.
Vietnam and Indonesia share a long-standing friendship, common interests, and similar viewpoints. As active ASEAN members, both nations see strong potential to further strengthen their bilateral ties.
The two leaders expressed their delight at the strong, practical, and effective development of the relations between the Vietnamese National Assembly and the MPR, both bilaterally and multilaterally, calling the legislative relationship a crucial component of the overall ties between the two countries.
The majority of the NA Standing Committee's members agreed on the need to continue reducing the land rental fees in 2024 as proposed by the Government.

Vietnam officially joined ASEAN on July 28, 1995. Throughout its participation, Vietnam has consistently prioritised the bloc’s unity and solidarity. The country has played an active and responsible role in shaping ASEAN’s strategic decisions, from promoting the formation of ASEAN-10 in the late 1990s to initiating key ASEAN documents that reflect its contributions.

A red-carpet welcome ceremony was held at Merdeka Palace - the Presidential Palace in Jakarta on March 10 for General Secretary of the Communist Party of Vietnam (CPV) Central Committee To Lam and his spouse Ngo Phuong Ly.
The top legislator emphasised the importance of promoting transportation-oriented urban models, creating mechanisms to effectively use land funds, developing smart and sustainable cities, establishing an inter-agency mechanism at the central and local levels to solve obstacles in the implementation of projects.
The concert was a special event within the framework of Party General Secretary To Lam's state visit to Indonesia and official visit to the ASEAN Secretariat.
Vietnam is committed to creating the best possible conditions for foreign businesses, including Indonesian enterprises, to invest and operate stably and sustainably in the country, said Party General Secretary To Lam.
Party General Secretary To Lam commended the Vietnamese community in Indonesia who, though smaller than in some other countries, have worked diligently, achieved business success, and made positive contributions to their host society.
The trip underscores the importance the Vietnamese Party and State attach to relations with neighbouring countries in the region, including two key partners —Indonesia and Singapore, while highlighting Vietnam's proactive, responsible, and innovative spirit, with practical contributions toward realising ASEAN’s shared aspirations for the future.
Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh requested ministries, sectors, and local authorities to proactively solve existing problems related to foreign investment projects, facilitate the expansion of foreign businesses' investment and operations, and enable Vietnam to integrate more deeply into global supply chains.
