The event is also an activity to respond to the Visit Laos Year 2024, which promotes and introduces cultural and tourism products as well as agricultural products of Vietnam and Laos, helping to step up trade and socio-economic development in northern provinces of Laos and border localities of the two countries.

The fair features over 20 booths of Vietnamese localities, Xiengkhouang province’s districts and other Lao provinces.

Speaking at the opening ceremony, Consul General of Vietnam in Luang Prabang Kieu Thi Hang Phuc said that seeing the growing integration trend and grasping the foreign policies of the two Parties and States, ministries, agencies, localities and enterprises of Vietnam and Laos have proactively coordinated and actively implemented the two countries’ cooperation agreements and achieved positive results in all fields.

She said that Laos is gradually becoming one of the important sources of products and raw materials for production for ASEAN countries in general and Vietnam in particular. Regarding tourism, Laos has become an attractive and favourite destination for many Vietnamese and international tourists.

Vice Governor of Xiengkhouang province Buangern Humxayaphom emphasised that the fair is not only an opportunity to promote the image of Vietnam and Laos, their people and culture but also helps connect their businesses.

The fair runs until October 25.
