(SeeNews) - The MPs backed prime minister Dimitar Kovacevski's proposal to appoint new ministers of justice, health, information society and administration, and environment and spatial planning, the government said in a press release late on Monday.

With the changes, the Alternativa party is exiting the ruling coalition, to be replaced by the Alliance of Albanians (AA) party.

The AA party will have three ministers and two deputy ministers in the new cabinet, party president Arben Taravari told a news conference earlier.

Parliament will continue discussions on the appointment of new deputy ministers of defence, justice, health, education and science, and agriculture, forestry and water management on Tuesday, according to its agenda published on its website.

Kovacevski's SDSM party, together with its partners, now controls 67 seats in the unicameral assembly of 120 members. AA has eight representatives in the parliament, whereas Alternativa has four.

In early 2022, Alternativa helped the SDSM form a majority in parliament for a new cabinet led by Kovacevski after the resignation of Zoran Zaev as prime minister. At the time, Besa, a junior partner in the previous coalition led by Zaev, withdrew its support for the new SDSM-led cabinet.
