MESSAGE FROM SEAH KIAN PENG, SPEAKER, PARLIAMENT OF SINGAPORE:
Singapore and Vietnam enjoy excellent bilateral relations that are underpinned by political trust, strong trade and investment links as well as close people-to-people ties. Both countries share a similar strategic outlook and enjoy sustained high-level engagement between leaders. During the 50th anniversary of our diplomatic relations last year, Vietnamese Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh visited Singapore in February 2023 and in turn then Singapore Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong visited Vietnam in August 2023.
To build on the momentum of high-level exchanges, I am delighted to welcome His Excellency Tran Thanh Man the President of the National Assembly of Socialist Republic of Vietnam for an Official Visit to Singapore from 1st to 3rd December 2024. This important visit follows from my very good meeting with President Man at the sidelines of the 45th ASEAN Inter-Parliamentary Assembly held in Laos earlier this year.
President Man’s visit is yet another concrete manifestation of the excellent bilateral and inter-parliamentary ties that exist between both countries following the signing of the Memorandum of Understanding on Relations between the National Assembly of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam and Parliament of Singapore in 2022. I look forward to receiving President Man and members of his distinguished delegation next week in Singapore.
