The official visit to Singapore from December 1-3 by National Assembly Chairman Tran Thanh Man reflects the comprehensiveness of the increasingly strong relationship between Vietnam and Singapore, according to a Vietnamese diplomat.
In an interview granted to the Vietnam News Agency in Singapore, Vietnamese Ambassador Mai Phuoc Dung said that this will be the first to Singapore by a high-level Vietnamese leader this year.
It will contribute to consolidating and deepening the two countries’ already fine relations, he affirmed.
The two sides will reassess the implementation of agreements signed in 2022 during the then Speaker of the Singaporean Parliament Tan Chuan-Jin’s trip to Vietnam, and seek new fields and methods of collaboration to further boost the bilateral ties.
The visit is particularly significant as the two countries are preparing to establish a comprehensive strategic partnership in the very near future, Dung stressed.
During the mutual visits of the wo countries’ leaders in 2022 and 2023, they signed a series of agreements in new fields such as digital economy, green economy, renewable energy, and carbon credits.
Through this trip, leaders will identify legal measures to address challenges and make these partnerships more practical and effective, and contribute to encouraging Singaporean businesses to increase their investment in Vietnam, and potentially vice versa.
It will also help strengthen parliamentary relations not only between Singapore and Vietnam but also among the ASEAN countries as a whole, added the diplomat./.
