Chairman of the National Assembly (NA) Tran Thanh Man called for deeper cooperation between the State Audit Office of Vietnam (SAV) and State Audit Organisation of Laos (SAO) while receiving SAO President Viengthavisone Thephachanh in Vientiane on October 18.
During the meeting, which took place within the framework of Man's official visit to the neighbouring country and attendance at the 45th General Assembly of the ASEAN Inter-Parliamentary Assembly (AIPA-45), he urged both sides to continue to effectively and substantively implement cooperation activities to further perfect institutions, organisational structure and professional expertise at each agency.
Noting that the two audit agencies have maintained a unique partnership since the establishment of the SAO in 1998, the Vietnamese leader urged both sides to continue fostering practical and effective collaboration based on their signed cooperation agreement, especially in professional training.
Man underlined the need for practical collaboration to strengthen the positions of the two state audit agencies in international organisations, which will increase benefits of both sides and the global auditing community.
For his part, Thephachanh briefed the NA Chairman on the results of cooperation between the two audit agencies. He affirmed that both sides have strictly adhered to the terms of their cooperation agreement and expressed his gratitude to the SAV for its support in human resource training and organising workshops to improve the professional skills of Lao auditors. He pledged that SAO will continue to actively cooperate with its Vietnamese counterpart at regional and international forums.
On this occasion, he appreciated the support of the leaders of both National Assemblies for the cooperation between the two state audit agencies. He said he hopes that the SAV will share experience, particularly in tightening fiscal discipline, with its Lao counterpart, contributing to the country’s socio-economic development./.
