On August 19th, despite the rainy weather, forces under the Ho Chi Minh City Command continued their urgent search and recovery efforts for the remains of fallen soldiers in Zone B of Le Thi Rieng Park, discovering 11 sets of remains and 5 sets of artifacts. On the same day, the City Command completed its search in Lac An 3 hamlet, Thuong Tan commune, discovering and recovering 5 sets of remains of fallen soldiers.

Eleven sets of remains of fallen soldiers and five sets of artifacts were collected at Zone B of Le Thi Rieng Park.

According to a report from the Team for the Collection of Remains of Fallen Soldiers under the Ho Chi Minh City Command, on August 19th, forces continued the search and collection of remains of fallen soldiers at the second location (Area B) in Le Thi Rieng Park.

During the day, the task force processed over 500 cubic meters of soil and continued to expand the search area in Zone B. The City Command mobilized 3 excavators, 1 dump truck, and 2 3.5-ton trucks to support the excavation and transportation of soil, ensuring the progress of the mission.

From June 23rd to August 19th, the forces discovered and collected 379 sets of remains of fallen soldiers, of which 211 sets contained artifacts; including 346 individual sets of remains and 33 sets of remains at 8 mass grave sites, including 2 sites in Area A and 6 sites in Area B.

During the search, authorities processed over 1,000 cubic meters of soil, dug to a depth of approximately 10 meters, and expanded the search area by more than 10 meters around the well opening in Lac An 3 hamlet. The excavation work was carried out urgently and cautiously to thoroughly examine the entire area for any signs of involvement.

Based on documents, evidence at the scene, and information gathered from witnesses, it has been initially determined that the martyrs died in the years 1968 and 1970.Immediately after the discovery of the remains, the City Command directed the search forces to fully carry out all prescribed procedures; ensuring that the collection, preservation, and handover of the remains and artifacts were conducted strictly and solemnly. At the same time, specialized agencies continued to coordinate in verifying information and completing dossiers to facilitate the identification of the fallen soldiers.

The completion of the search and collection of 5 remains of martyrs in Thuong Tan commune demonstrates the responsibility and profound gratitude of the Party, the State, and the armed forces towards the heroic martyrs who bravely sacrificed their lives for the independence and freedom of the Fatherland.

This result also serves as a basis for further review and verification of information and for organizing searches in areas with relevant signs within the locality, contributing to the effective search, collection, and identification of the remains of martyrs in the future.
