Identifying martyrs’ remains requires whole political system’s efforts: Deputy PM
Deputy Prime Minister Pham Thi Thanh Tra inspected the practical implementation of DNA identification technology at the Centre for DNA Identification under the Institute of Biology of the Vietnam Academy of Science and Technology, and the Military Institute of Forensic Medicine under the Military Medical Department of the Ministry of National Defence on September 14.

As of August 26, 917 sets of remains had been recovered in localities across the country. A total of 264 sampling teams have been established, involving 3,500 personnel. Samples have been collected from the remains of fallen soldiers at 159,370 graves, representing 74.9% of the target. Of these, 109,897 graves were eligible for sampling, accounting for 68.96%.

The samples, strictly sealed and packed in 100 specialised containers, will be covered with the national flag and transported by a CASA-295 military transport aircraft operated by Brigade 918 of the Air Defence – Air Force Service from Tan Son Nhat Airport to Gia Lam Military Airport in Hanoi.

On August 13th, at the Binh Phuoc Martyrs' Cemetery in Dong Nai City, a solemn ceremony was held to pay respects, commemorate, and bury the remains of 29 martyrs whose remains were searched for and collected during the peak period of the 500-day and night campaign.
