Dong Thap: Intensive campaign launched to collect DNA samples from relatives of fallen soldiers whose information has not been identified
The People's Committee of Dong Thap province has just issued a directive to launch a campaign to collect DNA samples from relatives of martyrs whose information has not yet been identified, with the participation of many departments, agencies, and the People's Committees of communes and wards.
According to the People's Committee of Dong Thap province, after nearly two years of implementing the Ministry of Public Security 's plan to collect DNA samples from relatives of martyrs, Dong Thap province has updated more than 46,000 pieces of information on martyrs and more than 46,000 relatives receiving allowances to the National Database on Population.
Of these, information on the graves of over 35,000 martyrs has been identified, while information on nearly 11,000 martyrs remains unknown. For the group of unidentified martyrs, Dong Thap province has updated information on over 8,000 maternal relatives eligible for DNA sample collection to facilitate matching.
In accordance with Plan No. 453/KH-BCA-C06 of the Ministry of Public Security on launching a campaign to collect DNA samples from relatives of martyrs whose information has not been identified, Dong Thap province will organize the collection of DNA samples from martyrs' relatives from July 5-10, 2026. During this period, 3 sample collection stations will operate simultaneously, with 4 working groups at each station.
To ensure effective implementation, the People's Committee of Dong Thap province requests that departments, agencies, and the People's Committees of communes and wards organize the dissemination of policies for people who have rendered meritorious services to the revolution, and the work of collecting and identifying the remains of martyrs whose information is incomplete, in accordance with the Politburo 's guidelines and the Prime Minister's directives; and encourage relatives of martyrs to participate in providing information and collecting DNA samples.
The Dong Thap Provincial Police Department is requested to arrange equipment and personnel to coordinate with relevant units to receive the Application Form for Identity Card Procedures (DC02) immediately after collecting DNA samples from relatives; ensuring that all information is fully and accurately integrated.
The Department of Internal Affairs of Dong Thap province is tasked with coordinating with the Provincial Police, the Provincial Military Command, and other relevant agencies and units to review and identify the list of martyrs and their relatives eligible for DNA sampling, ensuring that the data is complete and accurate for updating into the national database system on population.
At the same time, guide and urge specialized departments at the commune level to coordinate with the local police force in reviewing and updating information on the relatives of martyrs during the process of collecting and transporting samples and related matters; review and provide records of cases subject to sample collection, ensuring accurate and consistent information...
For the People's Committees of communes and wards, the People's Committee of Dong Thap province requests a thorough review and verification of information on martyrs and their relatives; a review and provision of dossiers for cases subject to sample collection, ensuring accurate and consistent information; and ensuring that 100% of martyrs are updated in the national database system on population.
