In its statement released on October 2, the state-owned Angkor Enterprise said the park earned 5.36 million USD in revenue from ticket sales during the January-September period, also up 20 times year-on-year.
Located in northwest Siem Reap province, the 401-square-km Angkor Archaeological Park, inscribed on the World Heritage List of the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) in 1992, is the most popular tourist destination in the Southeast Asian country.
In a bid to lure more visitors to the park, the Cambodian government announced last month that foreigners who have lived in the country for over two years could apply for one free admission a year to the Angkor and the Koh Ker Temple.
Before the outbreak of COVID-19 pandemic, the Angkor received up to 2.2 million international arrivals, raking in 99 million USD in revenue from ticket sales, according to the Angkor Enterprise.
