Vietnamese Party chief holds phone talks with US President

General Secretary Lam spoke highly of the talks, during which the two leaders affirmed their desires to continue strengthening the bilateral relations for the benefit of the two countries and contributing to peace, stability and development in the region and the world as well.

lGeneral Secretary of the Communist Party of Vietnam Central Committee To Lam held phone talks with US President Donald Trump on April 4 night (Hanoi time) to discuss the Vietnam-US relationship.

General Secretary Lam spoke highly of the talks, during which the two leaders affirmed their desires to continue strengthening the bilateral relations for the benefit of the two countries and contributing to peace, stability and development in the region and the world as well.

Both leaders held that the Vietnam-US relations have been developing fruitfully in different fields. On bilateral trade ties, they deliberated measures to further promote trade.

The Party chief affirmed that Vietnam is ready to negotiate with the US to reduce import tax to 0% for goods imported from the US, and at the same time, proposed the US apply a similar tax rate to products imported from Vietnam. He said Vietnam will continue to import more goods from the US that Vietnam needs, and encourage and create favourable conditions for US companies to expand investment in the Southeast Asian country.

The two leaders promised to discuss further to soon sign a bilateral agreement to concretise the above commitments.

On this occasion, General Secretary Lam respectfully invited President Trump and his spouse to soon visit Vietnam again. The US President accepted the invitation with pleasure and expressed his wish to soon meet the Vietnamese leader again. President Trump asked General Secretary Lam to convey his greetings to leaders and the people of Vietnam./.

“We are eager to move forward towards strengthening and deepening our cooperation and political dialogue in such crucial areas as high-tech industry, trade, educational exchanges, and people-to-people contacts. Vietnam is an important partner for Armenia in the ASEAN region,” Armenian Ambassador to Vietnam Suren Baghdasaryan stated.

The President affirmed that Vietnam is a close friend and trusted partner of Burundi in Asia, and took this occasion to thank PM Chinh’s strong commitment to promoting the bilateral ties.

Both leaders agreed to continue facilitating the exchange of delegations at all levels and through various channels to bolster political trust and create new momentum.

The Vietnamese legislature is ready to support the governments, agencies, and businesses of the two countries in seeking cooperation opportunities and expanding collaboration.

NA Chairman Man stated that the Vietnamese Party, State, and people always highly appreciate the valuable support from the Armenian people during the Southeast Asian country’s past struggle for national independence as well as the current cause of national construction and development.

Former President Khamtay Siphandone used to tell the Lao Embassy that an important task for all officials and staff members of the embassy is to ensure that Vietnam understands Laos and Laos understands Vietnam, and that they must preserve the special Laos – Vietnam relationship as the best forever.

The Party, State, and people of Vietnam have lost a great friend and a close comrade, whose important contributions greatly strengthened the special relationship between Vietnam and Laos, said Ambassador Phan Manh Dung, head of the Permanent Mission of Vietnam in Geneva.

The official visit of National Assembly (NA) Chairman Tran Thanh Man to Uzbekistan will mark a significant step in strengthening political trust and laying the groundwork for enhanced bilateral cooperation.

General Secretary of the National Assembly of Armenia and Chairman of the NA Office Davit Arakelyan expressed his desire to strengthen cooperation with the Vietnamese NA Office so that the two sides can exchange experience in areas of mutual interest, such as digital transformation, digital parliament, and applying technologies, including artificial intelligence (AI)) in parliamentary activities.

The Vietnamese Government leader expressed sorrow over Khamtay Siphandone's passing, stressing that this is an immense loss to the Lao Party, State, and people.

The relationship between Vietnam and Burundi will continue developing across multiple sectors, especially economy, trade, and investment on the back of strong political determination from leaders of both countries, abundant resources, and potential for collaboration. This partnership will contribute to realising each country's socio-economic development strategies while promoting peace, stability, prosperity, and development in both regions and continents.
