Canada currently has nearly 300 valid foreign direct investment (FDI) projects in Vietnam with total registered capital of 4.87 billion USD. It is also Vietnam's second-largest trading partner in the Americas, with two-way trade reaching approximately 8.5 billion USD in 2025.

Prime Minister Le Minh Hung urged Canada to open its market wider to Vietnamese goods, particularly agro-forestry-fishery products, while extending cooperation in training quality workforce in artificial intelligence, quantum technology, and semiconductors.
Vietnam, Canada seek to promote defence cooperation

Expressing his satisfaction with the positive and increasingly substantive development of the Vietnam – Canada Comprehensive Partnership, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of National Defence General Phan Van Giang noted that based on the existing agreements, bilateral defence ties have been effectively advanced across a range of areas, including delegation exchanges, dialogue and consultations, training, United Nations peacekeeping operations, defence industry and maritime security.
