The activity formed part of the top legislator’s ongoing official visit to Japan.

Oishi highlighted the special bond between his prefecture and Vietnam that dates back 400 years, and that the relationship has been treasured and developed by local people until today.

In 2017, Nagasaki and Quang Nam province of Vietnam signed a deal on cooperation and exchange in various areas, he noted, expressing his hope that the two sides will bolster partnerships in trade, education, tourism, and aviation.

The two local officials voiced their belief that the Vietnamese NA delegation’s visit will be fruitful, and the two countries’ friendship will keep flourishing.

Stressing the breakthrough progress of bilateral cooperation in all spheres, especially since the elevation of ties to the Comprehensive Strategic Partnership for Peace and Prosperity in Asia and the World in November 2023, Man stated that Vietnam always views locality-to-locality collaboration as an important, substantive, and effective cooperation channel for promoting economic, trade, labour, and people-to-people links.

On this occasion, he thanked the Nagasaki administration and the Governor for supporting the prefecture’s cooperation and friendship with Quang Nam province and Da Nang city of Vietnam.

With special landmarks, cooperation between Vietnam and Nagasaki has become a precious asset of both countries. Nagasaki, a centre of economic, educational, and scientific cooperation with Vietnam, has actively boosted partnerships in trade, investment, tourism, and education with Vietnamese localities over the past years, according to the Chairman.

He added the Vietnamese delegation include leaders of Bac Ninh, Binh Duong, Ha Tinh, and Thua Thien - Hue provinces along with Can Tho city, which all boast many advantages and share the wish to reinforce ties with Japan, including Nagasaki.

Vietnam highly values Nagasaki’s valuable assistance via education and training cooperation, including granting scholarships and creating chances for Vietnamese students to study in Japan, he said.

The NA leader also lauded the prefecture’s huge potential for investment cooperation in such sectors as manufacturing, high technology, clean energy, infrastructure development, and environmental protection, suggesting it promote economic cooperation initiatives between the two sides’ businesses.

The leaders of Nagasaki said the two sides share many similarities and profound links, and that developing connections between Vietnamese and Japanese localities serves as an important stepping stone for the bilateral relations.

Nagasaki prefecture hopes to receive further support and assistance from the Vietnamese side as well as the NA Chairman, Oishi added./.
