Vietnamese, Lao provinces exchange experience in youth activities

The youth unions of Quang Tri province and three Lao provinces - Savannakhet, Salavan and Sekong – are joining a frienship programme in the the central locality from August 27-29 to exchange their experience in youth activities.

During the programme, the Vietnamese and Lao delegates are scheduled to visit outstanding business models and tourist attractions in Quang Tri, and hold talks to share experience and discuss cooperation plans in the coming time.

The youth unions of the four provinces signed a joint message of the friendship programme on August 28.

Accordingly, they agreed to continue communication activities to help young people better understand the tradition, great friendship, special solidarity, and comprehensive cooperation between Vietnam and Laos as well as the friendship and cooperation between Quang Tri province and the three provinces of Savannakhet, Salavan and Sekong. 

They will continue coordinating and sharing experience in economic development, startups, and cultural exchange among youth in districts that share the Vietnam-Laos borderline.

The four provinces’ youth unions also agreed to continue encouraging young people in border districts to participate in protecting the national border and landmarks, preventing illegal migration, human trafficking, drug trafficking, and smuggling in the Vietnam-Laos border area, contributing to building a Vietnam-Laos border of peace and friendship.

At the signing ceremony, Nguyen Dang Quang, Deputy Secretary of the Quang Tri provincial Party Committee and Chairman of the provincial People's Council emphasised that over the years, the Party Committee, authorities and people of Quang Tri have continuously promoting connections, exchanges and cooperation with Lao provinces in various areas with many important results.

Quang Tri and Lao provinces have maintained annual talks on border-related affairs, increased twinning activities between localities, border stations and border villages.

In particular, on the basis of the signed cooperation agreements between two sides, the Party Committee and authorities of Quang Tri, Savannakhet and Salavan provinces have directed and created favourable conditions for agencies, sectors, localities, enterprises and people in the border area to enhance economic cooperation, trade, investment and production, support each other in economic development, personnel training, as well as in maintaining national defence and security and protecting the borderline.

Quang expressed his belief that the youth unions will join hands to promote special solidarity and cooperation and experience sharing on youth unions and movements among Vietnamese and Lao young people./.
