Cao Bang launches "500-day campaign to intensify the search, collection, and identification of the remains of fallen soldiers"
In anticipation of the 80th anniversary of the Day of War Invalids and Martyrs (July 27, 1947 - July 27, 2027), the Steering Committee for the Search, Collection, and Identification of Martyrs' Remains in Cao Bang province organized a conference to implement the "500-Day Campaign to Intensify the Search, Collection, and Identification of Martyrs' Remains". Ms. Ha Nhat Le, Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee and Head of the Steering Committee, chaired the conference.
Attendees included: Provincial Party Committee member, Deputy Secretary of the Military Party Committee, Political Commissar of the Provincial Military Command, Deputy Head of the Standing Committee of the Steering Committee, Colonel Ma Cong Hoc; representatives of leaders from provincial departments and agencies; and representatives from several communes in the province.
Cao Bang province is implementing various solutions to boost investment attraction into industrial parks and clusters within the province.
In accordance with the plan of the National Steering Committee on the search, collection, and identification of the remains of fallen soldiers, the province is expected to search for and collect approximately 40 remains of fallen soldiers during the campaign. The province has completed the sampling of remains from unidentified graves in 9 cemeteries: Trung Khanh, Ha Lang, Phuc Hoa, Quang Uyen, Dong Khe, Hoa An, Thong Nong, Nguyen Binh, and Bao Lac. DNA testing has been conducted on a total of 670 remains of fallen soldiers.
The campaign aims to build, complete, and put into operation a database of unidentified relatives of fallen soldiers to facilitate the identification of their remains. It also aims to complete the demining and unexploded ordnance clearance work to support the search and collection of fallen soldiers' remains, focusing on key areas and core regions such as Dinh Phong, Ly Quoc, Vinh Quy, Coc Pang, Minh Tam, and other areas with information about fallen soldiers' graves. The campaign will run from March 15, 2026, to July 27, 2027.
In her remarks at the conference, Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee Ha Nhat Le emphasized that the provincial departments, agencies, and communes need to closely coordinate with the Standing Committee of the Provincial Military Command to provide information on suitable locations and equipment (cold storage, preservation cabinets, etc.) for receiving, transporting, and temporarily preserving the remains of fallen soldiers. Media outlets should actively disseminate information to the entire population about the political significance of the campaign. Organizations, individuals, and all segments of the population, especially veterans, should be encouraged to actively provide information about fallen soldiers and their graves, and to cooperate in the search, collection, and identification of the remains of fallen soldiers.
