NA Standing Committee convenes 47th session

At this one-day meeting, the NA Standing Committee is scheduled to give opinions on eight major items, including an initial discussion on a thematic supervision report on the implementation of policies and laws related to human resource development, especially high-quality personnel, which are deemed essential for sustainable economic growth in Vietnam's new development phase.

Hanoi (VNA) – The National Assembly (NA) Standing Committee convened its 47th session in Hanoi on July 10, focusing on key legislative and supervisory issues following the successful conclusion of the 15th NA’s 9th session.

Opening the session, NA Chairman Tran Thanh Man noted that the committee is meeting at an important time, just after the new two-tier local administration model began operations nationwide on July 1, 2025. He stressed that the NA, the Government, and all relevant agencies have swiftly started carrying out resolutions passed at the 9th session.

According to the top legislator, in the coming time, the Politburo will examine resolutions on education and training development and healthcare. Therefore, the Politburo will have six important resolutions, four of which are currently being implemented.

He also noted that the NA recently adopted three breakthrough resolutions, including Resolution 193/2025/QH15 on piloting special mechanisms and policies to foster groundbreaking development of science, technology, innovation, and digital transformation; Resolution 197/2025/QH15 on special mechanisms and policies to create breakthrough in law-building and law enforcement; and Resolution 198/2025/QH15 on boosting the private sector's development.

At its 47th session, the NA Standing Committee is also reviewing proposed adjustments to the 2025 legislative agenda. Man asked members to carefully assess the urgency, necessity, and feasibility of each proposed draft law to ensure that the legislative programme meets practical needs and maintains high quality.

Additionally, the committee is considering a summary report of the 9th plenary session and providing initial opinions for the 10th session — the last sitting of the 15th NA.

The top legislator emphasised that preparations for this final session must be proactive, thorough, and innovative to uphold the NA’s leadership and policy-making role.

The NA Standing Committee will also examine the legislature’s reports on public petitions for April, May and June 2025.

In terms of major national matters, the committee is expected to approve the Prime Minister’s proposal on the appointment of ambassadors of Vietnam./.
