Dubbed the Cyber Security Bill, Anwar said the drafting of the new legislation was agreed upon when the National Cyber Security Committee met today.

He said the unity government would not compromise with any attempt to undermine the country's cybersecurity.

"The government will also streamline the role of entities related to cybersecurity to maximise efficiency and avoid overlapping functions to boost the country's cybersecurity.

"I would like to stress that the government will not compromise when it comes to the country's cybersecurity, including in the digital domain and cyber ecosystem.

"The National Security Council's National Cybersecurity Agency, or NACSA, will be the main agency to mobilise efforts across government agencies and industries to enhance the country's cyber resilience," he said in a statement today.

On the new law, Anwar said it would provide NACSA with clear legal jurisdiction and authority to protect the country's cybersecurity and carry out enforcement.

"The new act will improve NACSA's efficiency, in line with aspirations outlined in the National Security Council's Directive 26 on National Cyber Security Management and Malaysia Cyber Security Strategy," he said.
