General Secretary Tô Lâm: The National Assembly and People’s Councils must truly embody renewal, action, effectiveness, closeness to the people and dedication to their interests

General Secretary Tô Lâm affirmed that the success of an election is truly complete only when it is translated into the effective performance of the new term. Building on this success, we must become even more deeply aware that the 16th National Assembly and People’s Councils at all levels for the 2026–2031 term must embody renewal, action and effectiveness, remain close to the people and act in their interests.

2nd consultative conferences finalise preliminary list for NA, People’s Council election

Among the 217 central-level nominees, 51 are women, accounting for 23.5%, 21 are from ethnic minority groups (9.68%), and 138 are incumbent deputies seeking re-election (63.59%). In terms of qualifications, 28 hold university degrees (12.9%), 189 have postgraduate degrees (87.09%), and none are below university level.
