Cambodia continues to support storm, flood victims in Vietnam

A ceremony was held by the Vietnamese Embassy in Cambodia on October 10 to receive donations from Cambodian organisations and individuals to support Vietnamese people severely impacted by recent natural disasters.

Vietnamese Ambassador to Cambodia Nguyen Huy Tang received a donation of 1,700 USD from Chea Sam Eng and Kim Neng, representatives of the Cambodians who studied in Vietnam in the early 1980s.

In their remarks, Chea Sam Eng and Kim Neng expressed their deep sympathy on the losses endured by Vietnamese people due to Typhoon Yagi and subsequent floods. They said their support is modest but symbolises the heartfelt solidarity between the two nations.

Both donors voiced their belief that the Vietnamese people will overcome these challenges and continue their path to prosperity.

Ambassador Tang expressed his sincere gratitude for the gesture, highlighting the strong friendship between Vietnam and Cambodia, which have stood by each other in times of adversity.

The embassy pledged to promptly deliver the donations to Vietnam to help those affected by the disasters in a timely manner.

In September, Typhoon Yagi caused severe damage across Vietnam’s northern region. To help address the aftermath, the Vietnamese Embassy in Cambodia launched a fundraising campaign, successfully raising over 40,000 USD from the Vietnamese community in the neighbouring country. This collective effort exemplifies the enduring spirit of solidarity among Vietnamese communities both at home and abroad./.
