The People’s Committee of the south-central province of Binh Thuan on July 7 asked agencies to strengthen supervision of fishing vessels that are likely to infringe on foreign waters as one of its drastic measures against illegal, unreported and unregulated (IUU) fishing.

The Kien Giang Border Guard Command has directed all border checkpoints to carry out thorough inspections of every fishing vessel, ensuring that only those with proper documentation and compliance with vessel monitoring system (VMS) regulations are allowed to operate.
